A desire, let’s say need, to create some form of ART (in particular, visual) is never ending. We feel compelled to go beyond human struggles, be they emotional, physical and/or spiritual. This body of work deals with the genesis of the: • Anthropological > place + time • Technical > tools + mind sets • Process > plotted + stream of conscious • ART connects us to our history, we search through files of DNA for who we were and therefore are to know and somehow father understand our place and meaning in the present. Museums demonstrate the universal ideals, mores, techniques and diverse societies in a given epoch. This cross cultural visual dialogue can evoke a mysterious ‘spark’ or underpinning in a participant/viewer. It allows us to transcend the present time and physical geography of our own being. • Specific to this body of work is a culmination of years exploring multi-medias from egg tempera > digital. At the current time there are myriad means to express our personal view/sense of the world within and without ourselves. Our connections are instantaneous, world wide and generationally varied. The challenge for me is to make all this meaningful, unique and stimulating to the participants/viewers. • Every time we begin a creative endeavor there is a physical beginning and stopping point. This latest series began with ‘old’ pieces of quilt patches combined with ‘new’ cloth pieces of my own. I chose cloth because it is historically ancient and as yet necessary today. It is also part of my own artistic history having utilized paint rags, materials and threads since the early 70’s. The ‘old’ patches have significance personally, they are from an era that includes my own formative years, and one that evokes a time of tranquility and excitement for the future. The assimilation, reconfiguring, embellishing, and painting connects the past with present.
